Portfolios that stand out

We recently posted a job for a Sr. Product Designer at PrizePicks.

We had over 1,400 applicants! That's a lot of applicants to go through.

So there's not much time to review each one. Here were the ones that made the cut and the ones that didn't.

  • The good ones had a simple clean design. One page (and links to work pages) is all you need.

  • They got straight to the point and were clear on their contributions.

  • Their work page was simple.

  • Bootcamp projects are dumb. Multiple candidates had the same exact design in their portfolios. They got deleted immediately.

  • Clarity in their writing and thinking is so important. Keeping it simple and concise. Long case studies wont get read in this phase.

  • The work was the hero in the story.

I'll write a more detailed post about this…
